GA-B150M-D2V DDR3 and Core i3 7100 ?
« on: May 20, 2017, 03:05:05 pm »
Hello,

I just bought GA-B150M-D2V DDR3 and a core i3 7100 and can't get the PC to start (screen remains blank and no sign of any activity).

The PSU (Corsair V550) and ram has been tested successfully on anther computer, I even switched the PSU and ram from the other computer on this one. Still no luck.

Initially I had ordered a GA-B150M-DS3H DDR3, which has been returned. after the new MB has been received and still no sign of life the CPU has also been returned. Now I have a brand new MB and CPU and the other part are succesffuly tested on other PCs.

Apparently (from what I found here and there) there might be an isue with the BIOS not being to the latest version (the one that support the 7th gen Intel CPUs...). The thing is I was expecting to have at least a minimal bios message displaying "CPU not supported" or something similar :-(
I was also expecting to have a "recent" version of this MB with latest BIOS.

The problem is I have no other CPU on socket 1151 (6th gen) to try to boot and update the bios. Or at the very least confirm this is the BIOS which is causing this issue...

If anyone has any suggestion/experience to share...

Hello,

Please contact Gigabyte esupport for further assistance. They suggested return the board to the Gigabyte UK for BIOS update.

@ manu_b,
Since more than 20 days has elapsed since you posted, is this still an issue?

In these cases, I would suggest returning to the retailer for assistance.  If brick and mortar, they might be willing to assist you with using an older CPU for troubleshooting or flashing.  If purchased on line, you have the option to return/exchange.  If you utilize Gigabyte for assistance, I'd check to see what local support options are available to you.
