Z270X Ultra Gaming XMP memory and restart issues

Hi, I'm new here, just want to point out some issues and see what fixes are available with the Z270X Ultra Gaming and bios version F6.
I was on F4 bios and all was okay. I updated to F6 (non down gradable) and now I have 2 issues which are really annoying me! My ram is listed as compatible on the specs for this Mboard. Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) Vengeance LPX DDR4 Memory Kit. On the F4 bios I could enable XML profile 1 and all was good windows and bios had the memory set at 3200.
On version F6 using this setting leads to 2 issues: 1 occasional BSOD's on windows 10 clean install, these are unpredictable and often happen when closing a program or when pc is doing nothing unattended. 2 upon using restart the system now appears to shut down for 2 seconds then restarts, like a cold boot.
If I go bios and disable the XML the memory defaults to the usual DDR4 2133 speed and both issues are gone – no BSOD’s and normal restart behaviour. I have been testing this for 2 weeks and am an experienced IT tech.
There is obviously something wrong with bios F5 / F6. I note on google it’s not just this board but other Gigabyte variants of it, one of which is the gaming 7 and mentioned in this thread https://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=18449.0 where even the beta 7 bios has the same issue.
I have spoken to Corsair and entered all the timings voltages etc manually – but to no avail both issues still present going this route.
Is there a fix on the way, are gigabyte doing anything about these issues? My board is now just over 2 weeks old and I am tempted to return and buy and asus or msi that don’t have these issues and will run my compatible ram at its correct speed of 3200. Opinions?

I reported this to Gigabyte a few days ago and now have recieved what i would term a generic reply:

"Hello,

What is the motherboard model name? GA-Z170X-Ultra Gaming or GA-Z270X-Gaming 7?

Please try to reset the CMOS -
1) Disconnect the power cord from the power supply. Remove the CMOS battery (the flat silver disk) from the motherboard. Leave it out for a minute or two, then replace it and power on the system. The BIOS settings should have been reset, allowing the computer to boot.
2) Go into the BIOS - “Load optimized default”
3) Save settings and exit.

Before CMOS clear document all your preferred BIOS settings (i.e. the settings you have changed from the default setting).

Check the XMP Profile is working. "

So i have replied that i am not happy with the reply and that F6 bios is the issue here with XMP profile enabled.

I have same problem with Z270M-D3H. I update to F6 bios from F2. When I restart pc with XMP profile 1, it turn off for few second then turn back on. Problem is I now get real bad stuttering in games no matter what RAM speed I use. I also have bus speed always 99.7 instead 100 like normal. New BIOS break my PC and I can't go back to F2.

Not that I'm recommending downgrade...  but it is possible:

An easier option is using the back up BIOS until a newer rev becomes available.

When upgrading to F6 the back up bios is also flashed to F6 - as this bios updates firmware on the boards components.

Well this has now gone on for way to long. These boards are screwed with fast memory and after nearly 3 months i am not waiting any longer, so returning to Amazon as not fit for purpose.
I have ordered a recommended Asus board that will work with my 3200 speed RAM
I have always used gigabyte, but the denials and now slowness of fix has put me off for good. Disgraceful way to treat customers, we are nothing more than beta testers.

I will be reviewing the board on Amazon and describing the issues and denials and still no fix to warn others about this on z270x boards.

inaf , your Z270X Ultra Gaming XMP memory and restart issues have nothing to do with the board i guess, i was also facing the same problems. i was even planning to change the mobo and take another same spec board by some other companies. But the PSU was causing all the issues. If you can grab a PSU check plugging it in i think the problem would be solved. Most of the restart or shutdown issues are caused by the PSU, not ram not board. It took me 10 whole days to detect the problem. It might seem that the ram or the board is causing the problem, but believe me Ultra Gaming is a perfect board.

I am having a similar problem: When I left the PC idle for a long period (1 hour or more), the PC stops responding, no image on the monitor and no response on the keyboard & mouse... even no reponse at te power buttom... The only way to bring the PC alive again is pressing the reset buttom or the power for 3 secs.
I belive that this problem apears when using XMP profile 1 (for setting RAM to 3200MHz).
I did the thing mentioned by ianf, but the system hangs the same. BTW, I never had de BSOD using XMP, but this issue that is very annoying...
Any suggestions?
