GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 rev. 1.3 AHCI-SATA Controller failure?
« on: May 22, 2017, 03:28:38 pm »
Good Morning,
my name is Luke and I am a new user. My pc is equipped with a motherboard Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 rev. 1.3 and the PSU is a Corsair TX850.
Even if my pc is plugged-in through an UPS, suddenly, after a beep, it turned off. When I tried to restart the system, (Windows 10 Home 64 bit) it was not loaded anymore and the following errors appeared:"Controller failure-No port detected-No device detected". Now the Sata III disks (Kingston SUV400S37240G and WD10EARX Caviar Green) are not properly recognized and I cannot enter the BIOS. I have reinstalled Windows 10 and sometimes it works, some others it is not loaded. Then the SSD icon is in the taskbar as it were an external USB drive. My Device Manager shows no errors.
Has somebody any idea how I could solve my problem?
Thank you all in advance for your help.

Hard to diagnose intermittent failures over the internet.  Possible solutions:
Disconnect power to the board and perform a battery pull.  Re-insert the battery, reconnect power and retest.

If the board has a CLR_CMOS jumper, you can also short this as an additional measure.

Try invoking boot from the back up BIOS.

Test the disk.  If the disk passes health checks, try replacing the SATA cable.  If you continue to receive this error after confirming operation of other components and resetting the BIOS, it likely is the controller on the board.

I pulled out the CMOS battery and put it back after a minute. Then I reconnected the power and solved my problem.
Thank you again.
