Replacement CPU fan AMD Phenom IIX4 965 on GA-790XTA-UD4

Has anyone replaced the stock CPU fan for an  AMD Phenom IIX4 965 on GA-790XTA-UD4 ? I need to replace it as a) it sounds like a jet engine ready to take off most of the time and b) EasyTune 6 is not an option for controlling fan speed as it causes unacceptable audio interference.

On an AMD forum the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 92mm was mentioned as a good replacement but with warnings about clearances of the memory slots (I have all 4 slots full).

Also mentioned was XIGMATEK HDT-SD964 92mm Rifle.

Has anyone used either of these? I'd be very interested to hear of any experiences with either (or another recommendation would be welcome also). Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I replaced the stock cooler with the Noctua NH-D14 air cooler as I noticed the CPU was running with quite high temps and also because of the noise.

This cooler is very large and apart from having to remove the top heat spreader from my Corsair Dominator memory I had no problems with fitting it to this board and it does cover the memory slots.

I'm posting this just in case anyone is interested...

I ended up installing a Thermaltake ISGC-300. It runs extremely quietly and at about 3/4 of max rpm at least 5-7 degrees cooler at idle (haven't needed to run it under a serious load yet). It has a rheostat to optionally control fan speed manually if one desires. It's very tall and just fits inside the case but doesn't obscure any connectors around it nor the memory sticks. So far, I'm very happy with it.

I have the same mobo and cpu with Scythe Mugen 2 Rev.B cooler. Unlike stock cooler, It's completely silent even at full cpu load but don't expect better overclocking results. It has the PWM function (the fan speed adjusts itself automatically on the fly) which not many coolers have.
However, if your main corcern is noise, any 120mm fan will do the job. A cheaper and good alternative is CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus, though a little louder than Mugen.

My mobo its the GA 790FXTA but I think its similar in size and space for hsf (do correct me if I am wrong)

Anyway I am also looking to replace my cooler
currently checking out the Arctic cooler Freezer 7
or Thermaltake Contac 29

anyone had a blast with these yet?
