(nvme) windows installs on nvme but does not boot (970a_ds3p rev2)

hi
I have a gigabyte 970a_ds3p rev2 motherboard it does not have a m.2 port so I bought an adaptor and attached the Samsung 960evo to it by the pcie4 port.
I changed it to MBR. (alsp tried GPT)
formatted to NFTS
I managed to install windows 10 pro on it by usb boot
but it would not load so I detached my pervious ssd HDD that had the windows 10 on it so maybe it just reads the 960 evo.
now the bios says no bootable media attached.

((I did install Samsung magician and updated the nvme drives that Samsung provided.))
((the win 10 progress stopped after 1st reset after files were installed and copied etc))
((I updated the bios))
I also successfully cloned the windows using Samsung migrate tools on occasion but still no windows.
I used standard bios setting since I don't understand most of it.
it seems strange coz windows installs and it recognises the drive but it does not run on it. might be a bios tweaking problem.
can you intelligent people help me please.

specs
amd cpu 8 cores
gigabyte 970a_ds3p rev2
16 gb ram
gtx 1070
Samsung nvme 960evo m.2
Samsung 750evo

thanks

Greetings,
On boards that do not support NVMe natively, it is not always possible to add a NVMe device with an adapter card and use it as a boot device.  Some add-on cards work and others don't.  In some cases, the chipset on the card is not compatible with the MB chipset and BIOS rev being used.  Since the hardware is not natively supported, manufacturers do not test or provide compatibility info for this hardware.  Resource limitations might also keep this configuration from working.  You can spent a lot of time trying different combinations, but in the end it might not work. I know your board is only coming up on 3 yrs old.  I'm in the same boat, my Z97 doesn't support NVMe natively either.  I suggest moving to a platform that supports your intended configuration.

Works with a modded BIOS... You are welcome to go that route.
