Smart Manager will not open

Smart Manager will not open
« on: October 31, 2017, 04:53:59 am »
My laptop has being having serious overheating issues and I have been trying to use smart manager to change the fan speeds. However, whenever I try and open it nothing happens. ShowSM.exe shows up in my taskbar as working but no window shows up allowing me to enter the manager. I have also tried updating smart manager through smart update but norton tells me that a "Heuristic Virus" has been found and blocked. When I exclude the program, nothing happens and the update says check your network connection, before closing. If it helps I have a P35x V6

When a 3rd party AV program that uses heuristics to block suspicious programs or activity, the only way to allow the program to run is to create an exception for the executable or directory.  AV programs that use this form of risk detection are not perfect and can, in some instances flag legitimate software as being bad when there is nothing wrong with it.  The issue can also resolve itself when new definitions are released by the vendor.

Create an exception or chose a different AV software.  Windows Defender or AVG Free both work great.

Tried to disable Anti visurs  and made exception for that directory. Problem is still there. I am sure that it is not AV problem.  I saw  more topics about it in other forums, but nobody get a solution  yet.

Try restarting the computer in Safe Mode and see if the program can be started/executed this way?
