Moving GA-EP35-DS3R to a new case...won't power up

I'm moving GA-EP35-DS3R and q6600 to a new case.
When I try to power up the CPU and PS fan spin up for a few seconds then power down.   This process repeats.
I've removed any extra components, wiring, etc.    It's just a video card...two memory chips, the processor, fan...not even in a case.   Just on the bench.
This whole combination was working in the previous case...power supply and all.

If I remove the ATX2 (the 4 pin one)...the power supply and CPU fans work just fine...but the system won't boot.

I've tried another (smaller) PS and it exhibits the same behavior.
Any thoughts?

To me...it looks like the mobo is shot.    Any indications on the mobo that might help determine this?

Try a bigger power supply, I don't know what make/model you are using but some boards have issues with certain PSUs. Failing that it could be a memory problem, either duff dimms or compatibility problems.

I appreciate the suggestion...but this power supply has powered this mobo, memory, CPU, and video card...PLUS a firewire, dual NIC card, two SATA drives and a SATA DVD drive.

Try putting it back into the old case (Pain in the @ss I know) just to be sure all is still working as it was. Then take the board back out and then go through the trouble shooting again.....Make sure all connections are seatted home and try reseatting your ram, gpu etc.. That's what I would do.

An update to my problem...hopefully helping others in the future.

As a last ditch attempt, I removed the CMOS battery for a few hours.   Jumpering the "clear cmos" pins wasn't enough for me.   After re-installing the CMOS battery, I booted up just fine.

Just for your information in the future you should always remove the battery before moving the CLRTC(clear cmos) jumper for at least 10 seconds and then replacing both. Anyway the most important thing is that you fixed your problem. Good luck for the future.
