The GIGABYTE Open Overclocking Championship European Regional Finals are proving to be the industry’s largest global overclocking competition with overclockers from 14 countries battling it out on top-notch hardware from GIGABYTE, Intel, NVIDIA, Kingston and ENERMAX. So far, GO OC Country Qualifier events have been held in France, UK, Greece, Serbia, Sweden, Russia and Romania, amongst others, and the event is widely regarded by the international overclocking community as the premier event on the 2009 calendar. The winning team will represent Europe on June 3rd in the GO OC international final during Computex 2009.

Among the Regional Final contestants, there are 2 winners from the Country Qualifiers who have already set some impressive new world records. From Sweden, AKA ME4ME has set a new FSB world record of 714MHz using the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P and LN2 to reach a very cool -120°C. Also from Serbia, nikolas61 has set the 3DMark Vantage Performance world record with a score of 15120 Marks and superPI time of 07:59.466. At the rate world records are falling, GIGABYTE expects contestants will smash several more of the current top world records by the end of April.

The winners of the regional events will then head to Taipei to compete against each other as well as last year’s GO OC 2008 Best P45 Overclock and Free Style champions on June 3rd, allowing them to not only compete for title of world-wide overclocking champion, but also to take part in one of the world’s largest IT tradeshows, COMPUTEX Taipei.

“GIGABYTE is again glad to be able to bring the world’s top overclockers together to showcase their skills and passion for overclocking excellence at this year’s GO OC,” commented Johnson Lin, CEO of GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. “GIGABYTE shares this commitment for excellence in every product we make, and we take special pride in designing high-end performance products that meet the special demands of the enthusiast power user.”

The GO OC 2009 Europe Regional Final winner will not only gain the title of European Overclocking Champion, but will also receive prizes valued well over US$ 2,000, including a trip to Taiwan for the World Final Competition. As top overclockers know, first class hardware is the key to achieving a successful record-breaking overclock.
