That was a typo on my part, very sorry. I meant F6 (corrected). While F6 did not contain the fix on the Gaming 7, both the gaming 3 and 7 got fixed with the 8/2/2017 Hyperthreading update, F6 (gaming 3) and F7 (gaming 7). Going to the Optane update F5 (your board) could introduce the behavior. I don't have any confirmation of this, but I wouldn't risk it.
The bigger question however, why do you want to upgrade? If your system is working flawlessly, I'd stay put. There is no need to upgrade unless the new BIOS adds functionality, improves compatibility or addresses a security concern. The number of people who might be affected by the HT flaw is extremely low, and even then only under specific conditions. You might consider waiting for a more meaningful update. If you do decide to update, do so using QFlash (in BIOS), and make a back up of your system, or data first.
