The setting up of the insulation is very long winded(although I am sure extremely important). Is there no easier answer to it? IThe first thing that springs to mind is "fill and fix foam" or the like. I understand that this would be a more permanent solution but feasable?

no i tend to shy away from a more periminate solution. even then beleive me you need more than just that layer you need at least three layers to properly insulate your board. Erasers are easily removable and leave no residue.

Therei no such thing as long winded when it comes to protecting your motherboard from condensation. Consider a 300 quid motherboard broken through lack of care in insulation? besides its very quick, nail polish, erasers, papter towels, foam JOB done:0

Yes , I understand what you are saying and no problem with that at all, just looking for a different solution.

With all this modding, do you actually use your PC for anything other than tweaking and experimentation?
Or do you just have an endless supply of Motherboards, chips etc that you want to destroy?
Wouldn't it just be easier and cheaper to move, along with your PC and go and live with the penguins at the south pole?

For most mere mortals we have one PC the we need to keep running and we don't have a bottomless pit when it comes to funds to finance such modifications. So, if you could come up with a Blue Peter edition, using double sided tape and sticky back plastic, I'm sure there will be lots of very appreciative people.

Joking aside, it's a nice article Gilgamesh and it's interesting to see such extreme cooling and a relatively easy way to go about it. I for one say: "Well done, that man!"

This is why I said that its a non-pretentious guide, there are differing ways to do the SAME job, such as the childs modelling clay I used as an example. THe guide is not saying YOU MUST use the same things or do it my way. What the guide is saying is here is MY procedure on HOW I go about things. TRY for yourself!

There are too many pretentious snobbish oc'ers out there and the guide is intended to be beginners Sub Zero tool.

In short This is the way I go about it. Try it my way first until your comfortable then when you know mre find a more efficient way of doing it!

I ma not here to say im the man im the best, im here to help people to do differing types of cooling hence the guide! We are all working towarsd te h same goal.

please note the DICE insulation and cooling guide is offline . We had a hacker on our site and we had to restore fro ma backup that was over 1 month old, as a result we lost A LOT OF CONTENT, INC THE DICE guide, UD7 BOARD review anda few other board manufacturer reviews.

We have learned a valuable lesson and in the process of implimenting new security measures! Luckily I still have all the photos and conent in a word document so it will not be too long before we are up and running again with the guide and the UD7 board review

Yes, there's nothing like a hacker to make you realise just how vulnerable you are. I hope that there is not too much stress invovled with restoring everything.
