Problem with Motherboard LEDs Aorus Gaming 5
« on: December 14, 2017, 02:42:13 pm »
I have an Aorus Gaming 5 motherboard with an Aorus R580 Graphics card. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit installed and the latest bios/drivers + latest Gigabyte software.

The motherboard LED lighting keeps freezing at a fixed colour and I'm seeing the following errors in the windows logs repeating at 1 second intervals

A restart doesn't fix the problem and it has to be a full power off/on before the motherboard LEDs adopt the correct setting.

Is anyone else seeing this? Is it likely to be software of a motherboard fault?

Ray.

Error Messages:-

Event 0, LedLib2
[err_107]: IT8295_Block_RW() fail.

Event 1, SMBCtrl
The description for Event ID 1 from source SMBCtrl cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

Has the issue always been present or did it start happening after a recent software or Windows update?

Are all devices displayed in Device Manager correctly installed and functioning?

Depending on when the behavior occurred....

You can use system restore and revert the system to a point in time when the software worked...  or uninstall the RGB App  and App Center <<Restart>> and Reinstall both from the CD that came with the MB...  Do not update either App Center or the RGB App and see if this resolves the issue.

This is a new build with a clean install of Windows 10 Pro and Gigabyte supplied drivers & software....nothing else (yet)

The behaviour has started from day one.

I'll revert back to the CD version of the App Centre etc and see if that fixes.

I have noted that changing the LED display does work on the Aorus Graphics card.... just the motherboard stops working and the error repeats about every second in the Windows Application log.

Ok, removed all Gigabyte applications then re-added everything from CD except RGB Fusion.
No Error messages & LEDs functional on both Graphics card & Motherboard.
Installed RGB Fusion and started from App Centre but made no changes.
LEDs still functional and no error messages.
Changed the LEDs to different pattern.
Change takes effect on Graphics card & motherboard LEDs.
Error message starts repeating in Windows Application log.
Tried a 2nd LED change.
Change is apparent on Graphics card but motherboard LEDs lockup and error messages continue in log.
Normal windows reboot doesn't fix. Only a cold boot restores normal LED operation.
Interestingly on the motherboard recovers to the pattern selected by the last attempted change.
Is anyone else having this trouble with RGB fusion?

Good diagnostics.  Recommend you open a ticket with support.

RGB Fusion is really slow to use. :( Making changes takes many seconds.
