GA-z87-HD3 WoL disabled?

GA-z87-HD3 WoL disabled?
« on: January 06, 2018, 02:16:51 pm »
I updated my bios from F6 to F8 recently and now I can't get the WoL to work. I have configured everything like before and with a packet sniffer all is well in windows but as soon as I turn off the PC, the LAN port is also powered off.

In bios there is no option to enable wake on lan. Only power on by mouse, keyboard and so on from hibernation or sleep.

Has this feature been removed in that bios version?

Greetings,
If not already done, perform a BIOS reset to ensure all settings in the new BIOS appear as expected.  To protect yourself, its a good idea to have a back up of your data whenever significant changes are made.

Are you using the onboard LAN?  This may not be supported if using a add-on NIC.

By chance do you have "ErP" enabled?  If so, this disables WoL.  If ErP is not enabled, verify the setting hasn't been moved in the later BIOS rev.  It should be under the Power Management heading.

Since I don't have this board, I can only go by what I see in the manual, which may be different than the BIOS you have.  The setting is not listed in the manual except under ErP where it states enabling that, disables power on wake events such as WoL.

This failing, open a ticket with support.

I have ErP disabled. Bios is reset after the update. I did open a ticket with support regarding this.
I am using the motherboard lan. WoL did work fine before upgrading the bios so I suspect there is something different about the WoL with version F8 compared to F6.

Have you tried to disable "fast startup" in W10 ? This feature tends to switch off network adapter when you shut down pc.
