A question about the GA-78LMT-S2P (Rev 5.1)

A question about the GA-78LMT-S2P (Rev 5.1)
« on: June 18, 2019, 06:48:05 pm »
I was wondering what the Max RAM capacity was for this specific motherboard. I've recently wanted to upgrade to 16GB of RAM and was wondering if this board would be able to use said capacity of RAM. It says 8GB in the user manual but it also says 16GB on both the Gigabyte page for this specific board and in another user manual on the page for this board under "Support". So I was posting this with hopes to have some clarification.

Greetings,
You haven't given us much information except the model of board you own and that you want to run 16GB of RAM.  What BIOS rev are you running?

What processor are you using with it.  What Bus speed is the RAM you have installed now running at?  Older CPU, I'd probably stick with 800/1066 or 1333.  Newer CPU 1600

There is no need to flash the F4b beta BIOS unless F3 doesn't work.

Its a 7yr old board.  You'll be out about $50 if your wrong.

Various reviews out there suggest your mobo can do 16GB ram all provided you have a 64bit OS
