Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 and 5.1 sound RL/RR/Cen too low

Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 and 5.1 sound RL/RR/Cen too low

Hi all -

my first post

After many years on an old AMD Gigabyte board i recently upgraded to the Z370 Aorus 7 and I cant seem to get 5.1 sound working correctly on my board, ive got the latest Realtek drivers from the gigabyte support site when I test the speakers I am getting good sound from the FL/FR, the Centre and RL/RR are very low volume; you can just hear them; the Sub appears ok. (i have even tried the drivers from Realtek)

I know the speaker wiring is good as if I switch physical connections for front to rear the actual speakers are working fine.

The retasking of the audio connections also appears correct, as documented in the board manual. Ive even retasked them and get the same effects of low sound on the rear and centre.
I was under the impression I should get amplified sound on all channels and didn’t need to resort to SPDIF and a separate 5.1 amp.

Am I missing anything ? Does this actually work as ive seen another post https://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=17989.msg103620#msg103620 querying the same thing.

Cheers

Greetings,
Do you have "Room Correction" enabled in the Real-Tek interface?

Hi there,

actually i didnt have it enabled; so ive done that - set the distances from seat to speakers -(1m in the fronts, 3m at the rears) boosted the db to +10 on the rear.

Its made some difference - but when i test using the sound manager the rears are no where as loud as the fronts. Is this to be expected ?

I dont think its working quite right.

cheers

Greetings,
No, it doesn't sound right. I asked about room correction because I've seen people get unexpected results using incorrect settings here.

I'm using 5.1 with line out to amp..  I don't have a way to try and reproduce it on my end.

Well, not what you were expecting, but if you have the sound you wanted, that's good news.  I'm using a older Cambridge Audio amp patched via analog connections.  5.1.  I was using optical out on my last Asus rig, but moved to GB a few years ago and never looked back.  I'm going to have to update my sound system when I build my next machine.  Glad you are rockin' now.
