Z390 Designare - auto power on via PSU
« on: September 25, 2019, 04:34:39 pm »
Hi

My last motherboard had an option in the bios which would automatically power on the PC as soon as it received power from the PSU, so I never had to press the on button on the case. This allows me to use a smart plug and turn on the PC via my phone.

I can't find any option like this on my Gigabyte Z390 Designare, I have updated the firmware.
(The only facility I've found is that it will automatically turn on following a power cut).

Any ideas where this could be?

Manufacturer's product page:

Thanks.

Took a quick peek in your manual last night and did not see any "feature" that supports this.

Power on by mouse, keyboard, WoL, etc.

What might work, and its a big might is the resume after power failure to "on".  I also do not know how ErP might affect this behavior.

This is not the intended use case of this feature.  I have not tested this and couldn't tell you with certainty if it might work with your "smart plug" and phone app.

Thanks for your help...

As stated "The only facility I've found is that it will automatically turn on following a power cut.", this does exactly as advertised, it will not auto power up via PSU after a clean shutdown.

The other options aren't what I'm looking for.
