Currently have the Aorus z390 Master MB and I am looking to put the following M.2 below in it. Being this is a Gen4 M.2, will it work with this motherboard?
GIGABYTE AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 1TB M.2
This drive will work, yes. If you want bling, it will look great. If max performance is all that matters, theoretically, the Gigabyte product is rated to perform slightly better than let's say a comparable Samsung m.2. (970 PRO)
If you want to save some cash, a 970EVO will also work. You will only see a performance difference in sustained transfer speeds of large files and marginal frame rate improvements. When I say marginal, I mean <10%. This will only be in a small number of cases and you may never realize improved performance in every day use.
You will not see any significant (measurable) real world performance improvements. The Gigabyte product is truly just bling factor with its copper case. If you stare into your case everyday and its not going to be covered by your GPU, maybe its worth it. Up to you.
