GA-MA785GMT-UD2H memory issues

AMD Athlon II X2 250
4GB (2x 2GB) ram OCZ OCZ3P1333LV4GK replaced with 4GB (2x 2GB) ram Corsair TW3X4G1333C9A
400W Corsair PSU
500GB Samsung HD502HJ Spinpoint F3
Win7 x64

Have been having problems with the above setup. When first set up with the OCZ ram windows was slow to install and would have random BSOD. All memory timings were correct etc as they are set manually. The OCZ showed up as having errors in memtest so I RMAd the ram. Replacement set shows up no errors but still BSOD. I replace this with the corsair ram and still the same problem.

I purchase the above set up again, but still random BSOD. Any advice would be appreciated.

Your Corsair memory is not on the Gigabyte  QVL list. The only Corsair listed there is TW3X4G1333C9A.
I also checked on the Corsair website and they dont recommend them either.The address is here for you to check:

I'm sure it was native IDE

Your Corsair memory is not on the Gigabyte  QVL list. The only Corsair listed there is TW3X4G1333C9A.

Thank you. The gigabyte QVL only list one corsair module which is 1GB in size. There are no approved 4GB sets.
Corsair only seem to recommend 1600mhz ram. I have always thought that as long as the ram was within the limits of the motherboard and ran at SPD settings there would be no problem?

In a perfect world you would be right and that is what the standards are put in place for, but in reality often this is not the case and this is why you need to check for compatibility. It is possible that it isn't the memory that's causing your problem but I would want to cure one possible problem before going on to another.

I have to agree with this, however I am running 8 gig of Corsair RAM that isn't on the QVL and although it is now running fine it was difficult to get working in the first instance and it has become even more of a challenge with the AM3 CPU's.

What slots are you using on the Mobo for your memory?
Have you made any changes in BIOS?
What revision is your Motherboard?
Is your CPU C2 or C3 stepping?

Going on the gigabyte QVL I'm a bit limited on what matched pairs I can use. Is there a way of finding out what other motherboards work well with this ram?

I went back to defaults when I installed the F9 bios. I kept everything the same apart from the memory settings which set manually as per corsair instructions.
I have a revision 1.0 and 1.1 board.
The current CPU is C2 stepping I'm guessing the older CPU would be the same.

If I understand this part correctly you have altered the timings and Voltage for the RAM. In the first instance I would recommend loading Optimized Defaults in BIOS and not making any changes to RAM at all we can do that later.

Unfortunately I cant exchange them after 7 days. The only difference from the recommended ram on the corsair site (TW3X4G1333C9DHX) and mine (TW3X4G1333C9A) is the heat spreader.

Partly so. Rather than having set automatically, went to manual settings and using the info on the modules (which were the same as the automatic settings) the voltage was kept the same (1.5v)

I shall have to get back to you on that one. It can sometimes go for days without a BSOD then have 5 or 6 all on one day. This is from just general browsing on the net, checking emails etc.

I had very similar issues but I was running a Phenom X4 at the time, not an Athlon and I am using a different Mobo but I couldn't get it to run at anything other than the BIOS defaults which meant that my 1600 Mhz memory was running at 1333 Mhz. Changed CPU to a new 1090T X6 , same memory no problems!

You say that you are using F9 BIOS. Did you update it to this because of the BSOD's?
