Help please: B450m + Ryzen 2700
« on: November 26, 2019, 07:30:32 pm »
Hi all,

I am sick to death of trial and error with this machine.  >:(
Can anyone please tell me what settings are required to dial in the following so that it at least runs at stock levels and doesn't just lock down at 3.3GHz CPU with 2400MHz RAM?

RAM: HX432C16FB3/8 x4
BIOS: F50
MB model: B450m
CPU Ryzen 7 2700 rated at 3.3-4.1GHz

I had a successful boot two days ago, ran it for multiple hours, did various Unigine tests, was happy with it. Boot it up today with zero changes and it dies when it switches from VGA to loading the full 3D environment of the OS.
Num Lock toggle even stops responding.

Hmmm ....

Greetings,
I doubt a 450m based board would have been my first choice, but that's what you've got.

There are 4 variants, we don't know which you have?

You are the second person in recent weeks who has posted about a problem with F50a (a beta BIOS) who is running a RavenRidge or Pinnacle Ridge CPU.  I think sticking with F32, F40 or F41 might have been a better choice.

I don't see your memory on the QVL for your board?  If not, this is another potential problem area for you to deal with.

I think the only way you are going to gain stability is to:
A. Consider downgrading your BIOS
B. Setting your memory timings and voltages manually
C. Using RAM on the QVL for your board

I understand you are frustrated, but some of the choices you have made might be influencing this.  Sorry, cause these types of problems are never fun to deal with.

Thanks.

A. It came with F40, I have tried the versions inbetween and F50 does seem to be the most stable.
B. I would love to know what settings are most likely to work!  ;D
C. Hopefully I can get B. info and avoid this but otherwise will give that a bash.

Yes thanks. Should have checked RAM on here https://www.gigabyte.com/uk/Motherboard/B450-AORUS-M-rev-10/support#support-doc before buying it.

Still hoping for B) first.
