B450M DS3H change profile

Started out with 16GB of DDR4 2400mhz (2x8gb) and worked fine. Went to 2x8 + 2x4 of the same ram and worked great. Now I went to 2x8 of DDR4 3200 and 2x8 of 2400. It should all run at 2400mhz. But my system info shows only 16gb of ram installed. The bios still shows 24gb. For some reason it's not seeing the 2 sticks of 3200 ram. It's all G.SKILL Aegis ram so it should work together but that's not happening. Any ideas on how to correct this? All help appreciated.

Greetings,
Suggest you stick with matched RAM pairs.  Different sizes are one thing, different speeds is another.

That sucks. But ordered another 2x16 of the 3200. But how do I clear the 24gb out of profile 1? Or will it change with the new sticks? And why the profile shows 24gb and system info shows 15gb? Running linux mint 19.2 if that has anything to do withit.

Hi,
That's actually helpful info.  So you can see the MB is detecting but unable to use one of the DIMM sets (8GB).

If you are seeing this in the OS, it might have to do with memory management.

This could be a BIOS, chipset or software limitation and why using matched sets of QVL RAM is recommended.  Boards used to be a lot more forgiving, and you could use higher speed RAM with lower speed modules together successfully in many cases knowing that the over all clock speed would be the lower of the two.

This is not true anymore.  The BIOS and boards are tuned now for efficiency.  Tolerances are tight to improve over clocking ability, power draw and heat.

The new RAM should take care of any settings.  Worst case, CLR_CMOS will take care of it.

Actually no. The mobo is detecting the older set of 2x8gb 2400mhz and the 2 sticks of 4gb 2400. It is not detecting the newer set of 2x8gb 3200mhz. The system info is only detecting the 2x8gb of 2400.  The 3200 is not showing anywhere. But, as you say, it should be corrected when I get my other sticks of 3200 and use all 4 of that speed.

OK, I now have 32gb of 3200mhz installed but still only showing 23gb. It's all the same brand (g.skill aegis) and same speed. All 4 sticks are 8gb. Bios shows dimm_3 as n/a meaning nothing in it. Thinking it might just be a bad new stick, I switched 3 and 4 around. Still shows 3 slot as n/a. So not the ram. It still has the same profile 1 showing. If I can delete that profile it might detect the last stick of ram and create a new profile.

Any ideas the doesn't involve RMA'ing the mobo?

Have you tried CLR_CMOS?

Forgot to mention that, but yes. I did try it. Also checked with profile disabled and it still shows slot 3 as n/a. Like there is no ram stick in that slot.
