GA-X58A-UD5 - BSoD

Hello. Not sure if this is mainboard problem but maybe anyone here can help me.

Lately bought new comp:

GA-X58A-UD5 (rev. 1.0) - BIOS ver. F5
i7 930
Patriot Sector 5 G Series 2x4GB
Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5
Corsair TX650W

After fresh system install (Windows 7 64) i started getting BSoD. At first i thought it may be a graphics card problem. So tried downgrading my drivers to catalyst 10.5 (previously it was 10.6) but it didnt help. Next I moved card to different PCIe slot - still got blue screen. In the end i removed my radeon and put my old GeForce 8800GTX (that was woking fine for last 2 years) but still got BSoD. After that i put 5870 back in and tried testing my RAM with memtest86+ (4.10). It did pass clean without any errors. So at this point I really dont know what may be a problem. Something with mainboard or maybe with CPU? If anyone got any ideas please let me know.

PS. I didnt do any overclocking, everything was running on default settings.

Your setup looks fine and you seem to be running quality components throughout. When you ran Memtest86+ did you run it for a few loops and also test one memory module at a time?

Hmmm... no. I think it ran for around 30-40 mins then it said that everything was fine + both memory modules were on. So? You think i should test modules separately and let it run longer that 1 run?

Definitely! Let each module run a five or six loop test. I know it takes time but at least that way you can be sure.

Ok, did 5 runs at each module and no errors, however i saw something else - sticker on my ram says 9-9-9-24 and my bios sets default timing for them at 7-7-7-20. I did change them in bios to 9-9-9-24 but when i load Windows, open Everest, timing for my ram is shown as (7-7-7-20 @ 533 Mhz) (6-6-6-18 @ 457 Mhz).

Any idea why and is there a possibility that even if memtes didnt show any errors, those blue screens could be done due to that timing?

Definitely. The memtest has shown that the modules are ok but not that they are set right or that they are compatible with your motherboard.

1) I need the exact type of memory you have installed(model number)
2)Have you set the memory to dual bank in the BIOS?
3)Have you set the timings of the memory in the BIOS to what the maker says on the side eg 9-9-9-24 and then saved the setting?
4)Have you tried setting the XMP option in the BIOS?

Well firstly I thought it was that memory and neither Gigabyte nor Patriot recommend it for this motherboard. Did you have it already or did you purchase it for this build?
XMP is short for eXtreme Memory Profile and is something that you can enable in the BIOS in the  memory section that enables the BIOS to use special timings etc for the RAM. It is a basic overclocking setting. If your memory does support it(which it does) you will be able to select it and it will automatically sort out all the settings for the modules.

They were bought with rest of parts.

Anyway, trying something new now. Removed 1 ram memory module and so far for last 4h no bsod so it may be it. Will see how it will go and post later.
