yes when windows gives you the option (you will probably have to click on advanced options I think from memory) and select format and just accept the size etc it offers.

Bad news! Look it's getting a bit late here and I need some sleep, can we carry this on tomorrow? It is obviously not going to just finish that quickly.

so what does he problem seem like to u bad mobo ? u think i should try hooking my hdd to my old comp see if it formats?

By all means but make sure that if you can format it you do it with NTFS not FAT32. It will at least enable you to test that the drive is working ok. I will see you tomorrow. Good luck.

The chances are it is not the motherboard but more likely the drive or connection maybe the bios setttings.
