Some questions about Smart Fan 5

Some questions about Smart Fan 5
« on: March 03, 2022, 09:39:23 pm »
I've just installed Smart Fan 5 as I've had some temperature issues and wanted my case fan to increase in speed.  When checking the case fan status though, it's apparently set to ALWAYS be running at 100%, which seems strange.  The CPU fan increases in speed when the temperature goes up, but the case fan is set to always be at full speed.  Is this normal?  I've attached a screenshot to show what I mean.

On a related note, do I need to keep the Smart Fan program open at all times for it to control the fan speeds, or can I close it and it'll still do its job?

Thanks.

Greetings,
SMART Fan 5 is decent software, but your board's BIOS also has SMART Fan5 characteristics and controllability built in so you should look at it as well.

The two can conflict if you aren't careful so make sure you verify the settings.  SMART Fan doesn't have to be open to control your fans (custom fan curves or profiles) etc.  I have it installed too, but use the settings in my BIOS.  I also just purchased an iCUE 4000X RGB case.  It has its own Fan Control.  Haven't messed with it yet, but its highly customizable if you want.  So is SMART Fan5 for that matter, but not with the same granularity.
