CPU runs hot

As I stated before, the only way you are really going to bring your CPU temps down are with a third party cooler and a good quality Thermal paste.

I have just swapped out my X6 1090T for a X4 965 (C2 Stepping) CPU and even with my Noctua cooler I have seen the temperature jump by 12°C. These X4 Phenom ii CPU's do run hotter than I would have expected and I'm not even attempting to Overclock. It is relatively cool here, at the moment as it is still early morning (outside temp about 20°C) but this X4 is showing temps of 36-38°C and it is doing hardly anything.

Absic is absolutely right about you needing a better quality heatsink and fan for the CPU. You are not going to bring the tempertures down without one and some good quality thermal paste like Arctic Silver 5.

Guys,this is it. Ordered Corsair H50,comments please. I choose H50 over Noctua ND 14 is price is almost the same and my rig gets water cooled
2 questions
H50 pulls the air into the case the blowing radiator air in. Should I reverse the fan ?
Is pre-applied Thermal paste on H50 good enough ?
Also there is debate on using 2 fans ,"push pull". Will adding another fan help ?

Hi,

I did consider this option myself, before buying the Noctua. It does have some good reviews and from what I have read about it should bring your temps down quite a bit. I have also read that it can be a little tricky getting it to fit properly so be careful and read the instruction manual carefully prior to installing.

EDIT: You changed your post! To answer your questions:

I believe that it is designed to draw cooler air, from outside the case, through the radiator to promote better cooling. So I think you should leave it as it is. (But I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong)
The thermal grease that is applied to this cooler is OK so you should have no worries there

As far as it goes there is nothing wrong with the H50. It is easy to install and should certainly bring your CPU temperatures down. Obviously absic and I have a slight difference of opinion about the installation. I haven't ever fitted one but I watched a video of the process and it certainly seemed easy enough.

Well as everyone is messing about with posts I thought I would add my twopenneth! As far as the direction of airflow throught the radiator goes it really isn't that important the main thing is to get a total clean airflow through the  case including the fan on the radiator. The last thing you want is to have a dead spot where the air isn't moving properly. In one end, out the other!

H50 in place. Push pull plus One 120mm front fan bottom suck,One 120mm front top blow out, 2 ,85mm side fans suck in
Now the results.
Idle temps
Ambient = 30-35 C,India
CPU = 36-40 ( Overclocked to 3700 )
GPU = 50-52
HDD =33-38
Load ( Everest ulitmate )
CPU =55
GPU = 52
HDD =42
I am getting my case changed to NZXT M59.

Well those temperatures seem to be much better and more like I would expect to see as your ambient temp is over 30°C.

Thanks absic. My Coolarmaster elite 340 case is now crowded, Moving to NZXT M59,spacious. The review seems good for the price. Lets see if M59 brings down temps still

Yes, a larger case will help improve airflow and should also help a little further with temps but, you are in a hot part of the world so don't expect too much.

I am in the UK and the ambient temperature where I am is only about 20° C so my 1090T CPU is running at 24° C (I'm not overclocking), my 4850X2 GPU at 45° C and my HDD's at about 31° C. As you can see, apart from my CPU the other temps are almost the same as yours. (PC has been running for about 4 hours)

Yes, swapping the fan to blow rather than pull might improve things a little but keep an eye on your CPU temperature. Hopefully it won't increase but it might do so as you will be pushing warmer air through the radiator.
