Actually after all that I have being having a think - might go i7 afterall
I don't believe you will really gain that much by going down that route but you will spend a lot more money.

A lot of DAW Software struggles with multicore CPU's whilst actually recording multitrack audio and only really show the benefits of having a multicore CPU when it comes to post production. The real advantage is with the amount of RAM you are using and it really is a case of the more the better. Stick with the specs I have already posted and you will be OK Still it's your money and as they say, "You pays your money, you takes your choice".

All joking apart I would be inclined to follow absic's recommendations as he is the expert in this field and what he says is true about it costing you more for very little extra to go down the Intel route.

I would say it would be perfect for your needs. They are good PSUs and come with a long warranty too. But I would wait for absic 's approval as this is his build specs.

No problem with this PSU.

The only reason I suggested a modular version was to make it a neater build, (you only use the cables you need) and thinking about your original comments regarding the possibility of moving to a Rack Mount Chassis where space would be at a premium.

O.k. thanks.....
Just going through things getting ready to order the parts and noticed that psu......waiting for Overclockers to come back with their suggested memory for the G/Byte motherboard. Funny the lady in the cottage up the road gave me her old computer yesterday and a new boxed motherboard of her sons(MSI KT6V)bit old hat i think, i stripped the case guts out last night and now have another case, not sure i'll use it for this build though.
I'm finding all this quite interesting.....
They suggested this memory........
