X58A-UD7 infinite boot loop
« on: August 01, 2010, 05:13:09 am »
Whenever I have a Logitec (Cordless desktop MX 5000) BT mini receiver
inserted the system would run in infinite loop on booting.
Splash screen - reset - splash screen - reset.

It boots normaly when I unplug the reciever and the keyboard and mouse work when I plug it in while OS is running. ???

BIOS is set to USB mouse/keyboard Enabled

I am running the same board, OS etc as you and have a mini receiver for my Logitech MK700 cordless desktop and it works fine(well apart from the fact that it fails to pick up some keystrokes sometimes). Does it do the same when you have all the settings on default in the BIOS?

Hi, thanks for the response!

Well, it does and it doesn't.
I remember shutting it down, unpluging PSU power cord and reseting CMOS. I was then able to access the BIOS with BT reciever in it but I was using the Logitec G19 and MX 518 for input.
As soon as I made changes to BIOS the same thin happened.

Interesting! Well at least that proves the combo is ok, so we work from there. Have you loaded the Logitech software that came with the keyboard/mouse?

I wouldn't have thought so in general but it might be loading something then, who knows :-\ Just another thing to rule out really. I don't use any of Logitechs's software and I haven't had any problems. Maybe coincidence.

Seems there is a beta BIOS with “Enhanced USB keyboard compatibility” so than might fix it.

Or try:

Halt On in the BIOS to No Errors
and try USB Keyboard Function & USB Mouse Function to disable to see if it shuts down and starts up fine then try enable this setting is for DOS and has nothing to do with Windows.

Did that - No luck.

Ialso  connected my new Logitec cordless desktop Wave pro and now it doesn't run an endless loop but it hangs up on BIOS splash screen.

It seems Gigabyte realy botched up with USB this time.

Have you tried both the USB3 and USB2 ports? It's just that they are controlled by different chips.

I had same issues with my X58-UD7.

Latest Beta bios fixes it. It is the Logitech stuff doing it.

That sounds about right eastley, from what the OP was saying  it seems like it would need a BIOS update. Trouble is there isn't one available yet to fix it. :-\
