One beep means it started correctly, and has posted past the BIOS and handed things over to the CD or hard drive.   Are you sure your install DVD works?   What ports do you have your hard drives connected to (Color and #), and what BIOS settings do you have set for the following

Lsdmeasap the one beep referred to is a prolonged beep also there is no GPU installed so it wouldn't do a confirm booting beep anyway. It has to fail with no GPU. I must admit I did jump to that conclusion at first too.

Right today I got Windows 7 installed Hooray :) I disconnected everything again, took the Motherboard out of the case and double checked the Heatsink  on the CPU and what I found was that one of the push pins was not completely through (you can check this by looking under the Motherboard), I'm talking here about 1- 2 mm, but it seems it was enough to cause the CPU to shut down my PC. Anyway BIG THANKS Dark Mantis for your help and advice.

Ahh great to see you found the problem!

Thanks for the heads up on that DM, if I would have noticed it was that instead of the normal beep I would have been able to tell him what it was (CPU Overheat).

Need to pay better attention  ;D
