you are more than welcome Vortex. I am just glad that you managed to get it sorted out finally. Personally I think from your experience that there probably is something wrong with the card  because it should be able to be screwed to the case with metal screws no problem. ??? It sounds to me as if the card has a short to earth on it. Anyway at least it is working. ;D Have fun my friend at last ;)

Does it make any difference if you boot with just one card?

Not yet, I will try that tomorrow after work since the system cannot be warm.

Swapped cards, no difference. Reset BIOS with the cards swapped and it works, only difference is that windows wont detect the 2nd card now so now SLI for me. I will swap cards again and try. :(

Ok swapped back the cards, same issue. On cold start (graphics card is cold) I get no display at all. If I let the computer run for a minute then I shut it off and on again the card works normally. It really feels like I got one of those bad cards that Gigabyte recalled.

It certainly does sound like it. RMA it and make sure.

Yea I'm afraid so.. :( In 14 years of building my own computers this will (probably) be my first RMA.. it's a sad day. :P

To be fair then you have got away lightly until now. ;) Most of us have had a few items that were faulty.

Lots of research, buying quality brands and no impulse buying reduces potential problems imho.

I have sent out some tech support requests about this card now, will probably take some time before I get any replies though. Are there any Gigabyte reps on these forums btw? I havent seen anyone with that info in their avatar?

There is a Gigbyte representative on the forum called "runn3R". He's the moderator but he's away on holiday for a couple of weeks.

Ahh, thank you! I do hope my issue will be resolved before he comes back though. ;)

Not to be too depressing but I doubt it ::) The tech support team are very slow at responding in general even though we at the forum here field a lot of the queries and take a lot of pressure off them. I think it just lets them think they can take it easier. >:(

I've asked for a RMA-number (not sure of the english nomenclature here) and a replacement from the store I bought them from. Luckily one of the cards works fine so it's still an upgrade over my old GTX 260. :)

You got it quite correct ;D So you will keep one card and exchange the other for a new one, that's good. As you say even with one in it is an upgrade.

I was tracking the package as it went back to the store. Two hours after they received it I got a mail that they are shipping me a replacement card!  ;D

And all these stories I've heard about people waiting for weeks for RMA stuffs.. guess I got a lucky first! ;)

It's good to hear a nice ending with good service by the retailer. Have you had a chance to try the card yet?

It was shipped today so I wont have it until early next week I guess. Once everything works fine I'll try some mild overclocking since most of these cards seem to be able to hit 800MHz core clock easily. :)

Trying the cards out now, the new card shows on average 5-10 degrees warmer than the old one. I put the new card in the middle slot on my mobo and there's nothing under it. I wonder if that is due to different revisions of the card?
