The system is not good for IDE-disks .. that's for sure! =D

Yes also well known too... the IDE is off a jmicron chip so if it don't like your IDE's best bet is to get a IDE PCI card.

In case there is a built in disable for IDE because of how many controllers this board has try disabling “GSATA 6_7/IDE Controller” in the BIOS.

i have this motherboard and no problem with IDE / JMICRON port and old IDE disks or CD/DVD

i have programmed all , INTEL , MARVELL and  JMicron in RAID mode

Interesting. I have a few legacy PATA 120-300GB drives I occasionally need to transfer backup files from, and on my UD3R it is very hit or miss as to whether they will be found at startup. Sometimes they are there at POST, sometimes not.

As soon as I reconnect them back into the old server they are detected every single time. Same IDE cable used btw. Either the socket is badly designed/manufactured and the IDE cable end has to be pushed in just right, or the JMicron firmware on my UD3 is suspect.

Overall, I'm left distinctly underwhelmed with GB quality control, not sure I'll get another GB board next time around. I've always gone with Asus in the past and never had a problem. Ho hum...
