No I agree there shouldn't be any problem now. I was just concerned that you might be running your memory at a speed that would damage your memory controllers as per absic's investigation into the matter.

Before the bios update the dvd drive kept restarting while in windows, like it was hotplugging itself or something.:)

That stopped as soon as i upgraded the bios. So i guess im safe, it seems more stable actually and boots faster. Scary though of damaging a ram controller, thats hard to find out when you have that many ram. It seems okay though because ive been rendering stuff i Adobe premiere an issue with ram would usually presents itself very quickly and visually broken video files etc.:)

Yes I wouldn't envisage any problems from what we have been able to discover. Who knows what the problem was with the DVD drive origianlly, it could have been numerous things but at least it is cured now.

Just to put yours, or any other users mind at ease on this issue.
From what you said earlier in the thread, you are running 8 Gig of DDR2 800 Mhz Ram That should not cause any problems with the memory controllers as you are well within specs. Any possible problems only tend to occur if you are using this much RAM above 1333Mhz.

Hope this clarifies the situation.

My fault absic, maybe I didn't make it clear enough. I was just concerned at the start but after the OP posting the specs didn't worry any more.

Thanks for all the support guys. Everything is still very stable, this must be the best most stable motherboard ive owned for years! So the bios flash did only good things for me.

I wrote to Gigabyte support about the board, they seem to not know this revision even exists.

Either way as long as it is this stable and working im happy. :)

Strange that Gigabyte don't know of this revision number! Maybe it was a misprint on the board but it does seem odd. Can you post a picture of the revision number printed on the mobo?

Still, if everything's fine that's a good result but it makes future BIOS updates a little bit of a concern.

Does it say if the board was made in Taipei or Brazil?

Maybe the revision is very new and will show up sometime later on their website.:)

Hopefully i get another answer from support when they done an investigation of this.

Here are some pictures from the board and the box.

Well, that's clear enough isn't it?

Hopefully Gigabyte Technical Support will catch up with their own Mobo's!!  ::)

Hi there,

I have come across this problem/issue before and if I remember correctly the response given at that time was along the lines of: The differences between the Rev1.0 & Rev 1.1 versions of the motherboard are so slight that the same BIOS is used for both boards.(...)

Yes, the correct bios has been flashed in.

(...) You do understand that it is a Beta version and not fully tested yet as far as I know. By the time they are released on the website they are usually fairly stable. (...)

Correct, beta bios from our website is stable & reliable.

Does it say if the board was made in Taipei or Brazil?

:o Brazil? Our factories are in Taiwan and China only.
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

My mistake runn3R I understood Gigabyte had a factory in Brazil(or is that just the Black Ops that we don't talk about 8)).
