X58A-UD3R - Triple memory 6GB not reported in Bios.

As I commented earlier there seem to be quite a few boards that have this problem with bent pins. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is not the cause in this case too. I really think that some checking into this needs to be done globally!

I have read the manual over & over about this and I still come back to why the insertion of memory into slot DDR3-3 shows as enabled in slot 4 where there is no memory odd. THe Bios see's the memory in the correct slot but does not enable the correct slot !!.
So if the Bios see's the memory what else can one do.?

Well I will look but its going to take a little bit of time to do this what am I looking for in what position on the socket any clue's

There does not seem to be any manual settings in Bios but that might just be me not understanding some of the terminology.

Firstly, yes even on a new board. The pins have been found to be bent on quite a few new boards recently so difinitely worth checking although if you are anything like me you will need a magnifying glass to have a proper look.

There are no settings in the manual for manual configuration of the RAM but as you have a new BIOS things might have changed. So worth looking. Maybe a BIOS f***up

Bent Pins Bent pins bent Pins arghhh Why brand new board arrived sealed and now I feel its a used board.

Found two pins slighltly out of align  teased back with use of needle alos slight shadow on CPU pin so cleaned off with acetone.

Now I have all three channels showing inteh correct slot and correct slot enableb booting ok no noise either after setting CIE to disable and vcore voltage to normal. CPU report 43 C which should drop as the silver arctic settles & cures.
Also the odd freezing I reported in another thread had also stopped. three days without that, (The Bios settings improved this)


But a brand new board I am quite annoyed and cannot quite believe it its a scandal especially if Gigabyte do not accept the issue and invalidate the warranty.

Thanks for all your patient help on letting me wander through this and it was your early suggestion thatthis was the problem .

Still cannot accept that gigabyte quality control is quite that bad. Still it might have been a pointer the facty that the I/o panel was missing from the carton still waiting for that.

I am happy that we amnaged to sort out the problem but this is getting beyond a joke with all these boards with bent pins. Surely Gigabyte are not going to keep on buring their corporate heads in the sand and pretending that these are all caused by careless users. It is time the company had a bit more transparency in it's dealings with it's customer base while they still have the chance.

Mass produced items will always have a % to errors regardless of what anyone says.
IT sucks to be the person to get the % of them.

Obviously you are correct when it comes to any manufactiuring process there will be a percentage of failures. It is just that this seems to be getting to an unnacceptable quantity and QA should be taking more of an interest in this particular aspect.

Thats very true.

But as long as humans are involved in the process the margin for error will always be there.
I have been pretty lucky with every gigabyte board i have bought over the last 12 years i have been buying them.
Abit i had a horrid run of them, but thats another story
