GV-N460OC-1GI Bios Post screen
« on: September 01, 2010, 03:37:35 pm »
Hello

I have a problem with a recently bought gigabyte gtx460 1gb. The problem is that when i have a monitor (LG W2453TQ) connected to the DVI-D port, and i make a cold boot, i have no bios post screen, the monitor just wakes-up when the windows 7 login appears. When i connect another monitor using the dvi-vga converter, this second monitor works perfectly and i can see the bios boot post. This thing is driving me crazy because everything else works perfectly.

Anybody with the same problem?

Thanks

You don't give us much information to go on. If you are runing a board with onbaord graphics capability it could be that the BIOS output is going there rather than your main graphics card. If so try disabling the feature. Please list your hardware if this is not the case.

Ups, sorry about that.
No, i do not have an onboard graphic card. My motherboard is a gigabyte GA-EP43-S3L with a core2 quad 9400 not overclocked processor. I have a NOX 500w power supply with 38A on 12v. I don't think it's a power issue because i can play perfectly. It's just the boot on dvi-d. It's seems like a compatibility issue with the monitor, i don't know....

Thanks

First a question are you sure that you have the monitor connected to the number 1 output port? If not try swapping it over. If so I suspect it is a compatibility problem with the monitor. The monitor might not be picking up and dispalying the low resolution video from the BIOS output.

Thanks for the answers! I've already tried changing ports and the result is the same. One thing i have discovered is that if i shutdown the monitor after or before the shutdown of the computer,  and only turn it on after the post bip, when i turn on the computer, the monitor will be detected. So, probrably it's a monitor compatibility issue. I will try changing the dvi-d cable to a dvi-d dual link cable to see what happens tomorrow. I will post the results.

Thanks

Still have the same problem with the new cable. Maybe i will try the F3 bios. Is there a changelog? Is it oficial?

I would say it is worth trying the new BIOS version but I have noticed a few monitor compatibility problems recently.
