That's good news. Like I said runn3R does what he can. Just as well you took the pictures just to be on the safe side.

Well it's back and too make sure, swapped the 500w psu for a nice 750w Model HP-750-G14C+ specs ..

+5v 30A and +3.3v 28A = 180w
12v1 18A and +12v2 @ 18A and +12v3 @ 18A and +12v4 @ 18A = 650w
-12v @ 0.8A = 9.6w
+5vSB @ 3A = 15w

Plugged in the basics and even used the nice 8-pin cpu power lead and the extra power molex.

Nothing, lights go on, fan spins and it just sits there.
Remove memory, detects its missing.
Remove GPU, detects its missing

Make sure CPU isn't fubar, plugged in a Celeron 3Ghz from another PC, nothing.
Plugged in generic working DDR-800 and NV6200, nothing.

According to GB and I quote email "We advise this item has been tested with no fault(s)/errors found on our test systems", yet paper work says error P06 system no boot no display.

So am I wasting my time, a little disappointed nothing could have been done for something a few months of our warranty if I understand the way the serial number determines this, waste of another £11 sending it to GB.

I am surprised to be fair. I would be inclined to PM runn3r and ask him to look into it. At least he will find out more than you have been told I'm sure. Have you checked that all the capacitors look alright and not blown(stained or bulging on top)?

Might be worth just clearing the CMOS beforey ou give up on it as they might have changed the settings when testing it.  :-\

Yep done it and left overnight, TNA.

If its a new board looking at Asus P5Q Deluxe P45 Socket 775 £83 or can you recommend a well proven solid (no funny quirks) GB board, but must support min 5 sata 3Gb/s?

I am sure that there nmust be many good GB boards that meet your requirements. Personally I don't like recommending a particular board as I would want to choose my own. Just check out the available ones and when you have something in mind do a search of the forum and see what comes up.

Found the problem stopping the board from starting up.

Went back to basics and stripped it out onto workbench, disabled everything that wasn't needed, sata controllers, nics, hooked up old x1300 gpu and 40gb ide, low and behold works, even installed Win7.

Put it back in the case with same config, fails to startup, after 2 hours of farting around, its the front panel usb connection.

So looks like its going back to PC World and a refund .....
