Will it work?! Gigabyte EX58-UD5...

Hello everyone i am thinking in get a new pc but i am questioning myself, if i will have any problems with it.
Gigabyte EX58-UD5
INTEL CORE I7 920
OCZ Reaper DDR3 3x2GB 1800MHz Triple Channel
( 1800MHz DDR3 CL 8-8-8-26 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS) Reaper HPC Heatspreader).
i would prefer 2k memory but it says on http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/FileList/MemorySupport/motherboard_memory_ga-ex58-ud5.pdf that i just can use 1gb per channel with 2k mem's and cause i want 12gb i need 2gb per channel and i just get that with 1800 i guess.

Why? i am a 3d character and i usually use more then 2 3 programs at once and they use a lot of memory.

Well something i just didn't get yet is if would be better to get maybe 6gigs of ram but a better one cause seems to exist many other types of memory with better performance i guess, and still 6 gigs are a lot of ram.

If anyone know if this setup works nice or know better choices i would be glade to know from you thanks for your time.

If you really need 12GB of memory I would just stick with the 1800mhz ram. As a rule the ammount of RAM is generally more important than speed. I.E 12GB of 1800mhz ram would be alot faster than 6GB of 2000mhz RAM.
Not sure how intensive your 3D work is but you may not need 12GB.

hello oggmonster thanks a lot for replying yeah for now i will just add 1 kit so it will be 6gigs o ram if i notice that i really need more, then i will add another kit, thanks

12Gb of 1800Mhz ram will only be faster than 6gb if a lot of ram is actualy being used, otherwise the 2000Mhz ram will have a lower latency and be quicker.
Also, the ram will have trouble running at that speed with all banks full, unless you do 3x4Gb which is very expensive. Filling all banks puts more stess on the IMC and can mean a bigger limit on the overclock of the ram and cpu. To be honest, in real life there is virtually no difference between 1333Mhz up to 2000Mhz as triple channel provides well over 20Gb/s anyway, I get over 30Gb/s with my ram at 1740Mhz (stock 1600Mhz) and socket 775 only has a bandwidth of up to around 10-12Gb/s.

I understood what you said some make sense and others are new to me >D, anyway still i don't know what road to follow >(, i was thinking in those 12g cause Zbrush photoshop and many other programs i use  they tend to consume a lot of memory when you are in big scenes (lots of geometry and so on) so my point is to get the most memory possible and  with nice performance, but i don't want to have that much limitations later also about oc i dont tend to push much from my pc's (which is wrong >D)  so i really need to get the right choice.

Worst case would be adding 6 and then wasn't enough.

More comments would help so i can know more about memory's and do the right choice. thanks for everyone that is trying to help.

12GB works fine on that board. It's just that making larger overclocks stable becomes mroe difficult when all the slots are in use that's all....

If it were me, I'd buy 2x 3*2GB 1600Mhz RAM with a tight CAS latency. 1600Mhz is more than enough for overclocking (most kits reach ~1800mhz) and will be better value. Zbrush, Photoshop, CAD - these programs will use the RAM, but at the same time, your PC will appreciate the tighter RAM timings as well for speed

Also, I think Gigabyte have a mistake in that PDF because I'm using OCZ 2000mhz's... Although, what they might mean is that you can't run 2000Mhz natively (you have to do a very minor tweak/overclock to make it run @ 2000mhz)

hi again i have been checking which one i should get now that i know a bit more what i am after but still its quite hard to decide >D cause i don't want to waste money.

first i was thinking in 2k mems but since board didn't allow it i changed to 1800 but since i just need to add a little o.c to it so i can use them i am back to 2k mems.

so first i was thinking on OCZ REAPER DDR3 3X2GB 2000MHZ TRIPLE CHANNEL but it's CL 9-9-9-30 so no good,
i saw some new ones from ocz the OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000 Blade Series Low Voltage Triple Channel with CL 7-8-7-20 those seem very nice but now the point is will i get that much of performance comparing with maybe these ones G.SKILL DDR3 PC 16000 CL9 3GB/6GB kit with CL 9-9-9-24 which is a little better then the first one.

because in the price there is a difference and ain't that small >D.

As been said you will notice virtually no real world difference from 1333mhz - 2000mhz RAM

Try 6Gb for now, you can always buy more if you need to down the road
As for real life performance, no you will not see a difference between the 2000Mhz and 1600Mhz sticks, as there is plenty of memory bandwitdh available and the main bottleneck would be the hard drive and cpu. I would save the money for two decent SSD's in raid which will be a bigger difference in performance than getting 2000Mhz ram over 1600.
