Does very unbearable coil noise from a Gigabyte GTX285 fall under Warranty or RMA?

This is loud. You can hear it every time i enter 3d application.

The card still has about one year and 3 months left of the warranty from the company that i bought it from here in Iceland

I am not sure in Iceland but here in the UK the first twelve months would be under retailer warranty and then revert to Gigabyte for the rest of the time.

I haven't actually heard of this particular problem on a GPU but I wouldn't live with it :-\   I would certainly advise you to RMA it ASAP ;) The thing is the board isn't performing as described  so it is faulty, ipso facto.

Yeah thanks. The retailer shop here is not willing to take the card and exchange it and their excuse is that they sold many of these cards and all of them had coil noise and there´s nothing wrong with them, I find it hard to believe that people have just accepted that flaw in the card, this noise would drive me crazy in the end

Hi

Could you please provide me with exact model name (GV-...) of your card?
Is this possible you can record this sound (maybe with video) and upload it to internet?
Have you tried to change the PSU?

Are you absolutely sure that it is coming from the graphics card and not the motherboard/PSU?

Hi Runn3er thanks for taking your time to help me,
The Model number is GV-N285UD-1GH,

We have tried puting the card in 6 computers and also tried 8 other psu, and the sound is still the same, i install a GTX 465 in my computer and the sound was gone so we tried the other computers,

Here is a sound clip recorded through Pro Tools with a professional grad mic:

Certainly doesn't sound healthy. The card needs to be returned for RMA. It sounds as if something could be shorting at a high frequency.

So your dealer rejects to accept this RMA claim?

You are from Iceland so you won't find RMA information for this country here. But I may check it for you internally if you wish.
