H55N-USB3: No video on HDMI port.

H55N-USB3: No video on HDMI port.
« on: September 21, 2010, 04:10:56 pm »
I bought a H55N-USB3 and lost my on-board HDMI video completely, not even at BIOS.

I removed my 5670 video card to use on another computer and connected my HDMI cable to the bulti-in HDMI port and now I get no video

I tried reinstalling the video card and setting on-board video manually in the BIOS with no luck.

I tried clearing cmos with no luck.

not sure what else to try?

yes, the cable is fine.  I had it working with the 5670.  I edited my post so it reads better.  was kind of confusing.  Let me know if it need more clearing up.

Yes it was a little confusing but the doctor said as long as I keep taking the tablets I should be alright soon.
Have you removed the drivers for the GPU card completely now and relaoded the onboard drivers?

What CPU do you have in this board and did you overclock it?

I have an i5 655k and yes I did overclock it with my 5670.  But it was reset to defaults long ago.

I even removed the battery and clear cmos and still no luck.

I see people having this issue all the time.  but now that I have it, I can't find anything as search gives me an overwhelming amount of info, and always nothing close to what I want.  :(

Google does not like me.

OK, i just plugged in my VGA cable and all is fine.  It seems something is whack with the HDMI port.

Can I set a HDMI port preference in BIOS?  maybe it's disabled by default?

Try reflashing the BIOS using Qflash, and be sure you Disable "Keep DMI Data" before the flash.

Then reboot to BIOS and load optimized defaults and shut down the system.  Then remove your graphics card and start the system up using HDMI connected, it should then start using the onboard graphics.

If HDMI fails, try VGA again just to be sure it's still working.  Also, be sure you are changing your monitor to HDMI, just a reminder  ;D

Can you try the DVI port? You can not test it with a DVI to VGA  adapter.

I noticed my cmos wasn't reset properly.  My date/time was reset, but all my other settings were normally adjusted.  I loaded optimized defaults, and now all settings are properly set, but still no HDMI, although HDMI works with VGA as dual displays.  HDMI is primary, but is a blank screen at all times.  Then auto-switches to VGA after a timeout.

I will try reflashing the BIOS.  I do recall flashing a beta BIOS now that I think about it.  F6A it looks like.

will report back on results

bummer, I flashed F5 BIOS from gigabyte's site, and still nothing from HDMI.  I even manually switch monitor from VGA to HDMI when in windows, and it's a blank screen and switches back to VGA on it's own after a timeout.

any other suggestions?

I know HDMI ports works as I had it working when I first set it up.  but I don't know of any setting to enable HDMI.

Are you able to try the DVI port? No adapter.

OK, I found my DVI cable and still no video.

did something break?  It seems weird it was working fine, and adding a video card broke it.
