X58A-UD7 ( Help with SATA 6Gb/s)
« on: October 01, 2010, 01:09:50 am »
Hi i just purchased  a X58A-UD7 hoping to set it up with Crucial Real SSD C300 and Windows 7

is there anything i need to  unable or disable in the bois  to help windows find this as Sata 3 SSD  cause when trying to install windows 7 it finds it as a HD
in IDE mode if am correct.

if nothing needs to be done before installing windows is there something that needs to be done after installing to make the SSD work as it should

sorry if this is the wrong place to post this or if there has been alrdy another post like this

thank you for your time

Hi and welcome to the forum shyma.

Well you can set it in hte BIOS to AHCI mode if you wish. This is under some contention at the moment but it may boost the speed that you can get and it also allows the hot swap ability. It may not be as stable as IDE mode though.

What port do you have it connected to?

If you check my sig you will notice that I am running a similar setup to you and mine is running quite happily under IDE mode at the moment and is rock solid.
