GA-890FXA-UD5 backup bios problem

Hi there, everyone, I'm a new user here!!Nice to meet all of you!!

Alright let's get to the problem.
I have my new rig build at June with these hardwares:
AMD PhenomII X4 965 with Coolmaster Hyper 212 plus cooler(at stock settings)
GA-890FXA-UD5(Problem hardware) with bios F4 version
2x2GB DDR3 1333(Geil)
ATI Radeon HD 4770
Seagate 160GB SATA2+WD 500GB SATA2+WD 1TB SATA3
Coolermaster GX 750w PSU

It was fine until mid-August the motherboard screwed something, cause it won't boot.
I've rma it and it was given back to me a week before.
I've found out the MAC address of the motherboard has been changed(MAC on mobo, right?)
Alright this don't bother me...
But every new day I turn my rig on, it post, and then went to a screen said:
"Writing backup bios to latest version...Writing bios..."
and then auto reboot,and repeat that situation.
I had to manually turn it off, and boot it again, then it loads fine into the windows!!
At that day I turn it off an hour and turn on again, that problem won't occur.
Onln why I turn it on at a "new day"...
What is the problem??Can someone help answer it??

Hi and welcome to the forum.
 
Well first thing would be to clear your CMOS and load BIOS optimised default settings. Then make sure that the BIOSes match versions. If they dont bring the backup BIOS up to date to match the main BIOS.

Yes, of course and by the way there  are no silly questions only silly answers  Make sure that the power is drained from the PSU first and it is unplugged. If that doesn't work you may have to do it the old fashioned way by removing the battery as well.

OK.
I don't know if you know how to do it but just in case I have posted the instructions.

To check, go into the BIOS and on the MAIN page press F9 for system info.   You should see both BIOS versions listed, if they do not match please update the backup BIOS to match the current.

To do that, reboot and where you would normally press END to enter the BIOS, instead press Alt + F12, this will flash the Backup BIOS with the MAIN BIOS contents.   Do not worry when you see a recovery comment, that is normal and means it is flashing the backup BIOS.

I was about to go crazy...
I've checked the bioses version and they are both in F4!!
And it still need to write a newer version?What the...

Plus I have my windows crashed that I've restore the system...

Did you elect to clear the DMI when you updated the BIOS? If not try reflashing and this time select Clear DMI on the QFlash main screen.

Screw that, I've reflash the bios and clear the dmi pool data...
and it's still unworking!!
Plus I've detect that it only occurs after I turn my air-conditioner on when I sleep,
and turn it off next day, and then boot up the rig, then it screw that screen...
maybe the air-conditioner is the problem??

Maybe you are right the aircon is drawing a big current to start up and if your supply isn't perfect you will get a voltage drop briefly and that maybe the cause. If the aircon and computer are plugged into the same circuit try another on if there is one available.

Hi there,
it sounds to me as if there is still a fault with the motherboard's BIOS chip.
When you sent it back originally was it repaired or replaced?
Did you send it back to your retailer or Gigabyte?
If I were faced with this situation I think that I would RMA the motherboard again as it really shouldn't be doing what you say it is.

I don't really know...
but the MAC address have changed...
I planned to RMA it but I won't be able to use any PC...
maybe I'm going to urge the shop to give me a new board...

I think that is probably the best thing to do.
You have tried to get the BIOS to work properly and yet you still have problems. From my experience this problem of a motherboard continually trying to update from the Back-up BIOS is usually due to a faulty BIOS Chip. It is made harder to diagnose because, once the system is running it all seems stable.

I know RMA'ing the motherboard is a pain but I think, in this instance, it is the best way forward and I too would insist on a new motherboard.
