I opened a support call with Gigabyte tech support asking if they had any plan to release a SSD Compatibility fix any time soon, and also, offering to assist with beta testing any BIOS revisions they might be working on.

I can now install Windows 7 on my 120GB RevoDrive…

And I can do it with my BIOS set to:

     "AMD SATA" = "RAID",
"Port 5/6" = "As SATA Type"

          and

      "GIGABYTE SATA2 = "AHCI".

It was GA-890GPA-UD3H BIOS F9C that did the trick :)

Not sure about the RevoDrives performance.

I'm moving from using two 7200 RPM SATA3 hard drives w/64MB cache striped together in a RAID 0 configuration as my boot drive to using a 120GB RevoDrive instead.

Just installed Windows 7.  Seems fast.  But the RAID was fast too, so it's hard to say.

I won't be sure how much faster the RevoDrive is until I really start using the system.

As you say there probably will not be such a difference if you were used to using a fast setup like that before. My own forays into RAID0 and SATA3 didn't work out so well because of the dreaded Marvell 9128 controller chip. Maybe next incarnation of the motherboard. :-\
