Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Would you mind updating your profile which can be found at the top with your location please. It can make it easier to answer if we know where the poster is. We are trying to get everyone to do this. Thanks. DM

It is a very new codek and there seems to be a fair amount of confusion throughout the net about it. I can't give you a definitive answer but I found this from an Aussie post.

Quote
From what I've since found it seems to be that the ALC892 supports the streaming of the new lossless multichannel codecs like Dolby True HD and DTS HD. So not worth getting unless you have a receiver that supports it. Even then it's probably pretty hard to distinguish from DD at ~ 600 kbps or DTS at ~1,500 kbps. Since the ALC889 supports Dolby Live I reckon that's all I need.

Hope this helps a little.

I'm looking for just an answer to Realtek ALC892  AND  I leave,

Quote
"It can make it easier to answer"
Why do you need to know where I live if I ask ON  the board sound card?
It's just  poor!

What it will help you to answer me what it is Realtek ALC892
If you know where I live?
DO  GIGABYTE sell various kinds of ALC 892 for each country?

Quote
"I found this post form an Aussie."
Are you kidding me?
GIGABYTE's forum and you are copying the section of the person who invents  " bulls***"

Quote:
ALC892 supports the streaming of the new lossless multichannel codecs like Dolby True HD and DTS HD
answer
Dolby True HD and DTS HD  WORK ONLY  Via HDMI 1.3
AND ALC892  WORK ONLY WITH  SPIDF
SPIDF  NOT supports  Dolby True HD and DTS HD
SO YOUR  answer  Wrong

YOUR Quote  FROM

Hi

Thanks for updating your profile and it has nothing to do with this particular question but sometimes it can be important to know the location because of local power supply etc.

I reallly don't know why you are taking such a conforntational approach when all I did was try and help you, but there is no accounting for some people's attitudes I guess ::)  I, like everyone else on the forum, are the same as you, only Gigabyte users who try to help each other out. The flaming approach doesn't get you anywhere (apart from banned if you keep it up). So let's just start again and see if anyone else on the forum can help you.

Thanks

DM

Well I am glad that you are in such a good frame of mind and would suggest if this is the best thing that you can spend your time doing then I am sure that I am not alone in wishing that you would do it somewhere else. ;) Have a nice day.

Hi oppp7

Please calm down.

I will check these differences for you.
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

So you can compare these 2 chips:

DDL (Dolby Digital Live) is optional in ALC892, same as in ALC889.

ALC889:
