Have you checked the four mounts are fully home on your cooler if you are using the stock item?
Try using a different set of drivers for the GPU.

Thanks Dark Mantis  for the speedy reply :)

Just updated the driver to 8.17.12.5896 having rolled it back to 8.17.11.9745
Checked the card and fan mounting - all seems fine there.
Guess i will know in the next couple of days..... ;D

okay...now its getting more frequent.....moments ago blue screen again.

Removed the card, checked the fan (again) replaced and then nothing. No display output to my monitor via HDMI. Having to use VGA connection.
This is getting more worrying....should i be pushing for a replacement card?

Can you try with a different card even if you have to borrow it just for testing, that would at least prove the problem?

BTW when I said check the mounts on the cooler I was talking about the CPU.

okay, will try and obtain a donor card....
I wasnt sure which fan you meant - but i was checking both anyways :)

I suppose i should hope it is the card ?  ?  (otherwise it could be a real needle in a haystack) !!

thanks again

Have you changed any Bios settings ?

Re: GT240 - Blue Screen (is it to blame)?

The only MB BIOS settings related to memory performance (Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.)” to “Profile1”)

I still havent been able to borrow another card, but, interestingly i have been using it all yesterday and day without problems (impossible before)  by using the VGA connection not the HDMI one,do you guys think that this means the card itself is faulty??

thanks guys

That of course is possible but it could just be a compatibility problem.

Okay, interesting, so if it is a  compatability issue, is there any resource on the web that would help advise me of a compatable HD card - sould i need to replace?
....and i guess to replace with the same card would be / could be somewhat foolish (?)

At the moment I always recommmend the ATI cards as they seem to be more stable and cooler when performing. The drivers are better written and produce less problems.

Obviously it depends o two main things:
1) Your budget
2) Your requirements

I don't know how much you have to spend on one so  can't help there but if you are a gamer than you wil want the most powerful; card you can afford. If you can stretch to it the 5870 or 5850 are both excellent cards and both are 256 bit which give ample bandwidth. Anything below them like the 5830 or lower is only 128 bit so there would be a noticable difference.
