GA-X58A-UD3R won't power up

GA-X58A-UD3R won't power up
« on: October 19, 2010, 08:45:55 pm »
After 4 months of running well without any problems i came back to my PC to find it had powered down and the PSU power LED flashing. My 1st thought is its the fault of the PSU but after trying another one i still have the problem. The only way i can get any sigh of a fault is by holding down the power button which gives a single red LED just above the battery, and a orange and green together next to the bottom of the DIMM slots , unfortunately the manual has been misplaced so ive no idea what the fault is, and the Gigabyte site doesn't seem to let me download it! I've also reset the CMOS but it's still the same.

Please any help on the matter would be thankful.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The first thing I can do is give you a link to your manual:

http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-x58a-ud3r_v2.0_e.pdf

Are you sure that you cleared the CMOS completely?
I would advise doing it again and taking the battery out for ten minutes after unplugging it fom the mains and then pressing the power button to drain the PSU down.

Thank you for the quick reply. Indeed it seems i didn't take the battery out for long enough.  ::)

But at least it's powering up now and I'll take a better and longer look at it tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Good. Load Optimised BIOS defaults when you return to the board. Let us know tomorrow how you get on. ;)

Here we go again!  Only this time the PC was running on a standard clock. But it's the same as last time, but clearing the BIOS hasn't worked neither has swapping the RAM and PSU.

I'm fearing for the worst this time round as ive checked all the cables and have had most of it apart.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I think that it might be a good idea to take the motherboard out with the CPU/heatsink/fan assembly complete and one stick of RAM in the first slot plus a buzzer and PSU. Install it all on the worktop on some cardboard and be carefull regarding static electricity. Try and boot and see what beep codes it gives in return. Then post back.
