Any one with any info on the memory speed going up

Should it or is there a setting so the fsb goes up on its own without increasing the memory speed.

I'm new to this and thank any one who can help

ugg....

There is a setting in the bios to UNLINK the memory FSB and using a divider ie, 1.1. 2.2 ect use page up page down and you will see the resulting memory speed, don't forget it's twice the memory rating, shows 400 as 800,
try it  ;D

Oh yeah I totally forgot about that! *smacks forehead* this could be why hes having problems as its automatically clocking the memory further than it can go. I feel like such a prat  :-[

Arghh I'm such a numpty! I didn't read the bit when he said his memory speed was increasing. I'm 99% sure this is why its not overclocking.

uggitt: many apoligies for getting you to do stuff you probably didn't need too!  :-\ :-[

Thank you for the replies.  Just got back off my hols and ready to have another go.

Does anyone know what the setting is to unlink the memory in bios for the board I have.  I think I am going blind as I can not see it.

Oggmonster, thank you for all your help and also to Pottypete,

Regards

Mark

It should be around where the divider settings are...? Should be something like linked, unlinked and auto

May also possibly be under something called "system memory multiplier" ?

Infact i'm pretty sure thats it, I downloaded the manual for your mobo. Under memory freq it says; ".........automatically adjusted acording to Host CPU Freq (mhz) and memory multiplyer settings"

I have tried shanging this setting before.  Any ideas which is the correct one i need.  It always seems to increase the memory when raising the fsb.?

This is what it says in the bios manual and I am not sure about the (G)MCH freq latch settings

System Memory Multiplier (SPD)
Allows you to set the system memory multiplier. Options are dependent on CPU FSB and the (G)MCH Frequency Latch settings. Auto sets memory multiplier according to memory SPD data. (Default: Auto)

What are the options there? Anything that says 1:1?

EDIT: try putting CPU host (fsb) at 400 then system memory multi at 2.0b? That should give u a fsb of 400mhz and memory speed of 800mhz which is 1:1 ratio.

I tried the aboveand i do get the 1:1 ratio.  But as soon as i increase the fsb, so does the memory speed.

- Cant find antyhing relating to this and i still think this is the problem

Once again, thanks for your help

Thats really weird. If you put the fsb at 400 at mem at 2.0b, that give you a 1:1 ratio yet it still increases the speed? :S If its 1:1 ratio it should remain the same (bear in mind 800mhz ram is actually 400mhz because its double-data-rate)

here are the settings in the bios from the manual.  Oggmonster or anyone else, any ideas on how to stop the memory frequency from gaining whilst adjusting the cpu host frequency?  These are not my settings but may give an idea on how to do this.

Robust Graphics Booster [Auto]
CPU Clock Ratio (Note) [10X]
Fine CPU Clock Ratio (Note) [+0.0]
CPU Frequency 2.66GHz ( 266x10)

******** Clock Chip Control ********
>>>>> Standard Clock Control
CPU Host Clock Control [Disabled]
x CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) 266
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) [Auto]
>>>>> Advanced Clock Control

******** DRAM Performance Control ********
Performance Enhance [Standard]
(G)MCH Frequency Latch [Auto]
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) [Auto]
Memory Frequency (Mhz) 667 667
DRAM Timing Selectable (SPD) [Auto]

Thanks in advance,

Mark
