Actually what shocked me more than anything was the price! To see that they had rolled them out at £100 cheaper than the previous generation of cards. Very unusual. :o

That's because they're still the "same old, same old". Just optimised further. I reckon Nvidia will have a few nightmares thanks to these cards. There are some truly clever people at ATI, sorry, AMD that managed to get similiar performance out of older technology. The real advantage of this is production costs. Nvidia will be struggling to meet AMD's offer.

Yes I'll say! Under £200 for a top of the range graphics card! :o As you say there will be some sleepless nights at nVidia ;)

Actually I wonder whether the 5870 and 6870 would work together in crossfire mode? As you say they are essentially the same thing.
