GA-MA770-UD3 (rev. 2.0) available to buy??
« on: June 26, 2009, 03:33:07 am »
Hi,

I've been searching Google for UK e-tailers where I can buy the GA-MA770-UD3 rev. 2.0 but not been able to find it anywhere, only the rev. 1.0.

Do you know when the rev. 2.0 version will be available to buy in the UK or anywhere else in europe, even?
As you probably already know, the rev. 2.0 has the SB710 south bridge with AAC for better OCing.

Gigabyte has sold Rev.2.0 to UK distributors already, so it should be available at resellers and e-shops. You need to contact them for checking which Rev they have in stock as it can be the mix of Rev.1.0 and 2.0 in some warehouses.
ZX-S & C64 are still my favourites ;-)

Hi,

that board is defo available.  I think you'll need to ring them and ask what revision they have?

Whats the difference? I am about to buy this motherboard and was going to buy from Ebuyer.. I assumed that theirs would be Rev 2 but after reading this I am not so sure. Is getting a Rev 2 important?

Incidently, I have just made a post about the Rev 2, as looking at the CPU compatibility chart, the AMD 7850 Phenom is not listed.. Where is it is for the Rev 1 and also the other 'versions' of the GA-MA770!

The difference between rev. 1.0 and rev. 2.0 is that the rev. 1.0 uses the older AMD SB700 south bridge chip while the rev. 2.0 uses the newer SB710 south bridge. The SB710 includes ACC for more stable overclocking and also with some CPU models, unlocking disabled cores.

This wikipedia article describes the differences between AMD south bridges: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_700_chipset_series#Southbridges
