Gigabyte HD 5750 Silentcell question

Gigabyte HD 5750 Silentcell question
« on: November 20, 2010, 01:38:47 pm »
Hi there,

I'm wondering if anyone can advise me. I'm looking for a passive graphics card to drive 2 x SyncMaster 913n and 1x SyncMaster 2443 NW. These only have standard VGA analog inputs. The graphics card I'm interested in is a Gigabyte SilentCell 5750.
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3402#ov
It has D-Sub connector plus 1 x DVI-I and 1x DVI-D plus an HDMI. I know I can connect the DVI-I using a converter but does anyone know if I can connect the DVI-D to an anlog source using a converter as well ? Basically I'm asking if this cards supports triple displays using both DVI ports plus the D-Sub . I've been told that this Card only support 2 monitors on aother forum . Tha PDF manual doesn't really clarify and I've searched everywhere . Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Hi and welcome to the forum.

As far as I can remeber the cards will only accept two outputs. However I must admit that the specifications are a little open to interpretation.

Features Dual dual-link DVI-I / D-sub / HDMI

From that it would seem that you can use the two DVI-I ports and a VGA or HDMI

Hi DM ,

Thanks for replying . Yes I'm a bit confused . As you mention it does say dual-link DVI which I persume means you can hook up dual monitors . It just a case as to whether you can connect to the D-Sub at the same time.I guess as it's a relatively new card there is less info out there.

The problem from our point of view is that the graphics card section is seperate from  the motherboard section and we have a lot more problems getting details and specs etc from them.

Well I found a Review on a website called NinjaLane http://www.ninjalane.com/reviews/video/gigabyte-5750-sc/page4.aspx and it says it does support 3 monitors:

Quote
The Gigabyte Radeon HD 5750 supports up to 3 monitors for use in Eyefinity configurations.

Supported resolution for Eyefinity depends largely on the monitors and video card you happen to be using. In the case of a HD5750 the supported resolutions will look something like this.
Maximum Display Resolution
D-Dub(VGA): 2048 x 1536 @85 Hz.
DL-DVI-I: 2 x 2560 x 1600 @60Hz
HDMI:1080P
Eyefinity: 7680 x 3200 @60Hz

So I presume it  will work for my setup although I'm using my rig for Video and Audio production not gaming.

From the write up it would appear that the card will support Eyefinity no problem as long as that is the configuration that suits you.

Well from what I understand iEyefinity treats all monitors like one large one.So you can obviously hook up three displays but it's really down to whether it will support resolutions at 2 x1280x1024 and 1x 1920x1200 which would be a non-infinity config.
