Hi there,

You only have one CPU but it has 2 cores this is shown by the X2 in it's name. Some softewar will call these CPU1 & CPU2 others will refer to them as Cores.

CoreTemp is probably giving  the more accurate figures and is the one I prefer to use on my own system.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

No I know that was why I edited it afterwards and suggested coretemp instead.

But, CoreTemp only shows core temperatures and two people have suggested there is a different CPU temperature and that would be a more reasonable temperature to use as a criteria.  How is the CPU temperature different from core temperatures and how do I monitor it?

By looking at all of these temps I figure they're:

CPU1 - CPU temp

CPU2 - Northbridge? or faulty sensor? It CAN'T be the processor or any of the cores.

CPU0 Core - unless you have something outside of your PC case or it's cooled by some nice water setup - this is a false reading. Look at your HDD and Mainboard temps, there's no way something inside of your PC will be running 23 degrees without some really nice cooling.

I don't have any special cooling.  I have one case fan pushing in the front, two pushing out the back and the PSU fan.

I am not an expert on the AMD platform but as far as I know the usual state is to have one unused sensor.
