GA-MA78GM-S2H Rev1.1 Wake on LAN not working
« on: August 12, 2010, 05:34:09 pm »
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help me out.
I can't figure out how to make WAKE ON LAN work on my GA-MA78GM-S2H Rev1.1.
I have tried everything and is still doesn't work.
I believe if WAKE ON LAN is enabled when you turned your computer off, I should be able to see some LED activity on the motherboard NIC correct? Well, this is not happening.
On the bios there is not WAKE ON LAN, there are similar ones but not this one. I was wondering if there is something I should enabled that I am not doing. As far as Windows 7, the NIC is already configured to wake the computer up with Magic Packets.
The motherboard intergrated LAN is a Realtek 8111C chip (10/100/1000 Mbit) wich I believe it supports Wake-on-LAN and remote wake-up.

Any help will be appreciated.
I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit, 8GB of Ram, PS 550Watts, Ati HD3850.
The motherboard bios is the latest (F11) GA-MA78GM-S2H Rev1.1

Hi,
not certain about this as it is not a feature that I have ever used but I think you need to set the ACPI Suspend type in BIOS to S3(STR). The Manual says:

ACPI Suspend Type
Specifies the ACPI sleep state when the system enters suspend.
S1(POS) Enables the system to enter the ACPI S1 (Power on Suspend) sleep state
(default). In S1 sleep state, the system appears suspended and stays in a
low power mode. The system can be resumed at any time.
S3(STR) Enables the system to enter the ACPI S3 (Suspend to RAM) sleep state. In
S3 sleep state, the system appears to be off and consumes less power than
in the S1 state. When signaled by a wake-up device or event, the system
resumes to its working state exactly where it was left off.

You should find this under the Power Management Setup in BIOS
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Yes, I do have the bios set to S3. And I have tried with both S1 and S3.
Just wondering if there is any other setting like WAKE UP FROM PME that would make WOL work.

Anyone from Gigabyte care to answer?

I have the F11 bios and still WOL is not working?

I'm using latest 7.32.1111.2010 Realtek drivers... set to wake on Magic packet still doesn't work.

I put PC to sleep but NIC light is completely off there is no light so I'm assuming WOL is not working.
