GA-945P-S3: 2nd HD not showing correct size in BIOS
« on: July 07, 2009, 05:16:50 pm »
Having an issue with the above board I'm REALLY hoping someone can help me out with.  I'm currently trying to install Windows Home Server and bought two 1TB Western Digitial Caviar HD's to do so connected via SATA.  When I go into BIOS, the first drive shows the correct size, the 2nd drive for what ever reason is only showing 33 meg even though it's a 1 TB drive as well.  When WHS loads, the 2nd drive doesn't even show up under "My Computer".

Can anyone help me out with this one?  I'm hoping it's a simple answer but can't figure it out for the life of me.

The system was formerly my gamin rig, it too had two drives (both were 200 Gig) and both worked just fine.  Not sure what could have changed since then other than the drives themselves.

Would that explain why it only shows as 33 gig in BIOS as well?

Wasn't a formatting issue, turns out it was a bad hard drive.  Go figure......

No formatting required with these hard drives.
