Probably cchaos does not think that you're lying just pointing out that you say you are running a 965 and wants some clarification. Investing in a 970 CPU only to discover that it won't run on the motherboard would be an expensive mistake to make.
Like you I have lots of different hardware that I mix and match, especially when I am trying to troubleshoot for other users. I don't think anyone wants to see a list of all my hardware but they do like to see screenshots or have other "evidence" to validate what I am saying, when it is appropriate.
Exactly. Im not calling him a liar, but its all too easy to claim what you like when youre hiding behind a screen, hence why Im asking for a screenshot.
Just like you guys I also have more than one computer (although the other one is much older than my desktop which is what Im talking about here)
to cchaos:
I would also have to agree with this:
Frankly, I'd get an 965 BE or 1055T instead but if you don't want to overclock I guess it's a good option.
There really isn't a lot of headroom on the 970 when it comes to overclocking so unless you are planning on running it at stock you would be better off not hoping from too much more fom this CPU.
Stock to me would be fine. Otherwise I would just OC my 7750+ BE
My 970 is 125w which is compatoble. From the other forum it appears yours is 140w which may not be compatible.
And that, is what is concerning me:
OK, so Ive actually brought it. And so far all its doing is just sitting on my computer desk still sealed.
The online shop where I got it is here:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-275-AM&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1328 (link is straight to product, states that its a 140W)
However, when I check the part numbers against here
http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Phenom%20II%20X4%20970%20Black%20Edition%20-%20HDZ970FBK4DGM%20%28HDZ970FBGMBOX%29.html you can see that they say its a 125W.
Photos of the processor in the box are available if you want to see them, but for now Im not going to open the box until I have a clear "what are you worrying about? Just open it" or a "send that back"
Oh, and lesson learnt: always double check that the board is compatible before committing to buy (normally I do, but I though it would be fine)
