hi,
as in the title my ud7 won't post it just turns on and off continuely, i've tried every tip and trick known to man too try to get it too post, i've tried a i5 650, i5 670 and a i7 860, two different types of g-skill ram and some super talent ram also two 470's, three power supplies and still it won't post, oh and i've cleared the cmos more times than i can count.

all of the above works in my h55m-usb3 so i know that they all work 100%.

also i'm in the process of rma'ing my ud6 after a chip on the back of the board blow a hole in it's self, so i don't really won't to have too rma another board so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

You don't seem to be havuing a good time of it recently :o

It sounds to me like it could be caused by a couple of different things. The first one is a short to earth from the motherboard. I would say the best way to proceed is to take it all out of the case and build it up on the worktop.

Make sure that you observe anti-static precautions.

Lay some cardboard or something similar that is non-conductive on the worktop and remove the motherboard/CPU/heatsink/fan/buzzer/one stick of memory and PSU from the case and put it on the cardboard. Now I know you haven't got any graphics but try and boot. The system should try and then fail emitting a series of beeps. Please post what sounds it makes.

Hi

I have the exact same problem, but my first thought was, m/b was at fault so had that replaced.  The new m/b does exactly the same thing, even sitting out on workbench/antistatic surface with no memory or graphics installed.  Was starting to question the cpu but see you have covered that one already... I am stumped!   ???

Coincidentatly the two m/b's serial numbers were in series, the next one in fact.

Trying to locate a system speaker for sound prompts but any help at this point will be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte UK Forum.

You really do need a buzzer or speaker to enable you to hear the POST beeps.

If we assume that it's not the board then it only leaves the CPU or PSU.

Perhaps you could list the components you are using please?

My best guess is that your BIOS doesn't support the processor. If you haven't got at least F5 BIOS version then that is definitely the case. You will need to put in a supported CPU to flash the BIOS to F5 at least before putting your 760 back in.

Can't think why the p55a-ud7 will not post with an i5 760, should post even with first bios as the 760 is 45nm B1 stepping and all the same instructions, it replaced the 750, as far as I know there is absolutely no reason for the post failure due to no support for this cpu.  Can only think that there is a short, moisture or physical damage to the board, and don't rule out an esd shock too.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted.

Hello! Just a late comment... My motherboard came WITH a speaker. It is very tiny but works just fine. Look in your package of goodies!
